There is something that happens in a room full of curious, intelligent women who are there to learn, connect, and lift each other up.
You can feel it quickly — even if you walked in nervous, even if you didn't know a single person, even if you almost talked yourself out of going. The sense of belonging tends to arrive faster than you'd expect. And almost no one leaves regretting that they came.
That's the magic of what organizations like WRISE Colorado, WiMCO, and root/edge create. Recently, I had the honor of emceeing a panel they hosted — a room full of brilliant women showing up for each other and for the industries they're building. The energy was palpable. The education was real. And more than once I thought: this is what's possible when women gather with intention.
If you're not already part of an ERG, a professional association, or a community like one of these, I would encourage you to find one. Join it. Show up. Participate.
I know your calendar is full. I know it feels like one more thing. But here's what I've learned: these rooms don't drain you. They refill you. The connections you make, the friendships that form, the simple act of being surrounded by women who get it — that's not a luxury. That's maintenance. That's mental health. That's how we sustain the long game.
The smartest investment you can make right now isn't another online certification. It's in community. Whether that's the organizations shared above, our very own Leadership Laboratory, or even inviting two other women from work to take a walk, community fills our cups allowing them to flow over to others.
