Picture this: You're holding a cup of coffee, and someone bumps into you, causing you to spill it everywhere. Why did you spill the coffee?
If you answer "Because someone bumped into me," you'd be missing the deeper truth. The coffee spilled because it is what was inside your cup. Had there been tea in the cup, you would have spilled tea instead.
The same applies for life.
When life shakes us—and it will—whatever is inside us is what spills out. It’s easy to keep up appearances when things are smooth, but when we’re rattled, our true contents emerge.
So, the real question we must ask ourselves is: "How are you filling your cup?"
When life gets tough, what spills over? Is it joy, gratitude, peace, and humility? Or is it anger, bitterness, frustration, and self-doubt?
Life provides the cup, but we get to control what goes in it.
Choose your ingredients wisely. Focus on what brings you peace and joy, so that when life shakes you, what spills out will reflect the person you truly want to be.
Look for opportunities that spark resilience, gratitude, positivity, kindness, and love.
Let's work together towards filling our cups with what lifts us up...and those around us.
